Slowly but surely, tenants of the highly anticipated West On West (WoW) retail center are finally opening. Last week, Tokyo-based tsukemen restaurant Tsujita Artisan Noodle debuted its first ever Texas location. This week, South Korea’s beloved bakery chain, Paris Baguette, opens.
Located at 12230 Westheimer Road, the bakery chain brings South Korea’s take on French pastries just outside of the Westchase district. Popular eats include fruit tarts, red bean-stuffed breads and mochi donuts. There are also hot sandwiches, wraps, and a variety of coffee beverages.
Headquartered in Seoul, Paris Baguette is Korea’s answer to Starbucks and Canada’s Tim Hortons. With the WoW Paris Baguette, the chain now operates three locations in the Houston area. Houston’s first Paris Baguette debuted in Katy Asiatown in December 2022. A second location opened in November 2023 along Blalock Road in Spring Branch, neighboring the city’s first H-Mart location. A fourth storefront is expected to open along Bellaire Boulevard, in Asiatown’s buzzy Diho Square.
Despite marketing itself as a “neighborhood bakery cafe,” Paris Baguette operates around 100 locations in the U.S. According to its website, the franchise boasts 4,000 stores worldwide. Aside from its ubiquity, Paris Baguette has also been hit with several controversies–including boycotts and worker safety concerns.
Paris Baguette is the newest addition to the West On West Center’s roster. Other tenants include the ever-popular 99 Ranch Market and Korean barbecue purveyor, Gen BBQ. A trio of cafes and drink spots are expected to open too: soft serve fish waffle cafe Somi Somi, luxury crepe cake bakery Lady M, and viral boba joint The Alley. Hot pot spot Shoo Loong Kan and Osha Thai Kitchen are also waiting in the wings.
